- History/Biography
All Tabalah remembers about her life is waking up in the woods outside of Tranquillien in a ripped and blood-splattered wedding dress, after the Scourge came through. She felt a revulsion for the dress and tore it off, and lived in the woods for a while like an animal, unable to speak and not even knowing what she was, much less her own name. Then one day she fell into the river when she was catching fish and hit her head on a rock. Blacking out, she would have drowned, but someone carried her out. She woke up in a little cottage in the middle of the woods that she had never seen before. She wasn't really sure where she was.
She was tended to by an elf dressed in the simple white robe of a healer, who only called himself Brother. He gently brought her back to life, shared ancient books with her that she had never seen, some from worlds she had never heard of, taught her to see life as a mystic, carried her through visions of other lives and other times, and gave her the strength to face the world again. With him, she found a joy in life, in the Light, that she could have never imagined, but he never touched her in any way except with the gentleness of spiritual love. His touch taught her to shine. He would not tell her his name; when pressed, he said his name just caused trouble, that once, even twisted beyond recognition, it had been the death of an entire world. One night she rose to find him in the garden meditating, surrounded by Light, and his appearance shifted through several human personalities, some other beings she didn't recognize and others of the Azeroth races, even female, then back to his elven self. She crept back to bed without disturbing him, but somehow she knew he was aware of her presence.
The next day, he told her it was time for her to go back into the world. She still couldn't remember what had happened to her, but he told her it would come back to her in time, that she was protecting herself until she was strong enough to face it and forgive. She had completed her training, he said, and whispered in her ear her spiritual name. Tabalah. When she asked what it meant, he told her, "In one extra-dimensional culture, Tabalah was a speaker of the Truth, in one ancient language there it is an instrument of music used in spiritual circles and in another, pronounced 'tava lah,' it means 'I was there.' Remember that. Your name means, 'I was there.' You were. And I was. And I will always be there."
She walked out of the little glade where she had spent so many months, turned around and the cottage was gone.
Since then, she has been living in the region of Silvermoon, in the wild, hoping someone would recognize her and serving as a priestess. She is not politically inclined and doesn't really care who's in power at one time or another, has nothing against any living race and only mercy for the undead. She just serves the Light as her mentor taught her, often singing as she heals and blesses those she serves, sometimes just from the joy of life. When she sings, she shines.
Male elven Death Knights, especially lighter-haired ones, send her into a panic, others make her only slightly anxious. Sometimes she cannot handle an encounter with one and she runs away, not to be seen again in that town. She goes back to living in the woods, and goes on to another town. But she never feels alone, she is perfectly happy on her own. Recently she has been staying quite a bit in Silvermoon City itself. Though she never really found a place that felt like home before, thanks to the kindness of a certain shop keeper named Braedyn, she hopes to stay in Silvermoon.
