Ancient by the time of the Sunwell's destruction, Sebastien Artemidorus Kerwin was at one time renowned as a war-magister, known for his roaring voice and proud demeanor even as age suffused him.  A powerful magus of fire, Kerwin made his home in Tranquillien, raising a family there and acting as one of the most potent weapons of the village against the incursions of the Amani trolls.  In one particularly harsh battle, Kerwin became known as the "Pyre of Tranquillien," burning the bodies of the fallen High Elves before the Amani could claim them - and then ensuring the Amani themselves were incinerated in his wrath.  During the Third War against Arthas, Kerwin and his brother Alcyr were at the forefront of the fighting - until a particularly bleak day when Sebastien was felled by a terrible injury to the head.  Alcyr rushed his brother to the care of his allies in Silvermoon, then returned to the front.

Though by all rights, Sebastien should have died that day, a comrade of Kerwin's enacted a radical and heretofore unprecedented magical procedure on him to preserve his life.  The specifics are known only to the Magisters of Silvermoon, and it is kept strictly under wraps - as even they are not certain what was done, the magus who performed the ritual and all his notations destroyed in the sack of Silvermoon by Arthas.

Returned to life from a near comatose state years later, stronger and healthier than he'd been in his prime, Sebastien also suffered near-total amnesia beyond the previous 76 years of his life.  He had lost nearly all his knowledge of magic, and of his family, only his estranged son Satchiel remained, now a Blood Knight.

Undaunted, Sebastien returns to his studies, relearning that which he had lost and working to lend what aid he can to his beleaguered people.  The fire of pride burns eternal.
