Appearance

Scartaris is a young, pale blood elf (Sin'dorei) with long dark hair that falls in waves around her face and shoulders. In ordinary conversation, she is polite and friendly, if a bit reserved. She gives the impression of one who was born, if not into luxury, at least near it. However, when discussing her goals or the future of the Sin'dorei, her demeanor changes completely. She turns gravely serious, and her eyes burn with that crusader's zeal that one finds almost exclusively in young adults. This is understandable, since in human terms she is around 20 years old (she is actually 104).

Like nearly all Sin'dorei, she has flawless skin, high cheekbones, and fine features that most humans would consider beautiful. She also has a smouldering sensuality that is hard to overlook, and which sometimes makes her seem older (or perhaps simply more experienced) than she is. She does not usually seem conscious of this effect.

Scartaris was born Severianne Ambershine, of the Ambershine clan in Silvermoon. Severianne was expected to join the family business of tailoring under the patronage of Lord Saltheril, as her sister Sempstress did, and her parents before her.

Severianne was not satisfied with the preordained life her family had set out for her. She could not simply craft colorful costumes for decadent nobles while the Scourge march relentlessly toward Silvermoon. She wanted more, and she had a plan. She arranged to "run into" rival tailor Keelen Sheets at one of Lord Saltheril's parties. Feigning interest in Keelen, she allowed herself to be seduced, and became a pawn in his plot to steal the Ambershine clan's patterns and techniques.

For weeks, Severianne and Keelen met secretly, exchanging words of affection, and more. Severianne fed Keelen scraps of information about her family's trade secrets, while extracting from him morsels of information about his "other" profession... demonology.

Eventually, Severianne learned enough from Keelen to make her first demonic pact, and the course of her life was changed forever.

Claiming a new name of her own choosing, Scartaris severed her ties with Keelen, and informed her family that she had charted a new path for herself. A path toward power. A path toward the Outlands. She would save her people, with or without their help.
