Ashes
"And what will we tell our families and our soldiers about all of this?" the old, grizzled orc asked, staring down yet another Forsaken adviser. So many damn undead. "How will they know of these secret warriors of yours?"
"As nothing but fleeting shadows," said the dark-robed cadaver, pausing as he swept fragments of dust away from the blackened citadel's balcony. Such short work had been made of it. The Forsaken watched his companion's scarred face, eyes bright and eager for some sort of confirmation.
But the wise orc's gaze was on the dust dancing in the wind. "Fleeting shadows... And ashes, too" he murmured. The undead's rictus grin was to haunt him that night.

Guild Name: Ashes
Type: RP-PvE
Guild Master: Agrivain

Those in <Ashes> seek to change the world in subtle ways, acting namelessly. The activities of the guild are mostly secretive, though there is a public face. In order to cast a wide net for a diverse set of characters, <Ashes> will be split into three groups for RP purposes; these "factions" will have no impact upon our raiding whatsoever. They will be represented by a character's guild note and RP activity, and are intended to give interested folks multiple angles from which to approach the guild IC.
The Hellscream Guard is the most public face of the guild, named in honor of Garrosh Hellscream, who promises to become a great leader of the Horde. Its partisans are mostly members of the "Old Horde" - Orcs and others who pledge absolute loyalty to the Warchief and are devoted warriors who have joined Ashes to serve on the frontlines of Thrall's secret war against the Shadow Council and other evils. The existence of Ashes is a secret, but the Hellscream Guard is a known, if mostly inaccessible, entity. Its soldiers are the true muscle and backbone of Ashes, whether Orc, Troll, or Forsaken uncomfortable with the shadowy deeds of the Apothecary Guard.
The Crimson Guard is the "New Horde" to the Hellscream Guard's "Old Horde." Most of its recruits are Blood Elves, once reluctant and condescending members of the Horde, but now inspired by the success of the Shattered Sun Offensive, the Blood Knights' return to the Light, and the battle against Kil'jaeden that has united most of Azeroth. The Crimson Guard is thus responsible for Ashes' dealings with the Burning Legion, and whether its members are Sin'dorei newly seeking redemption, Orcs that long to free Draenor, or Tauren standing proudly against the world's spreading corruption, it fights honorably alongside those who bear Hellscream's name.
The Apothecary Guard is led by Agrivain, the Forsaken knight inspired by the man and methods of Nathanos Blightcaller, and the overall commander of Ashes. Like the warrior himself, soldiers in the Apothecary Guard are hard-line Sylvannas loyalists, dedicated to spreading the New Plague to Northrend. Though their own brand of vileness is undeniable, they detest the Scourge above all else. They are the most secretive group within a secretive organization; in fact, many in the Hellscrem and Crimson Guards view themselves as having the additional responsibility of checking the ambitions of the Apothecary Guard, lest they bring great harm upon Horde and Scourge alike.

Insignificance.
I had only been on the outside before, with hundreds of other blood elves. Each one had been prideful of their houses while in Silvermoon. Each one with families that loved and supported them. But now, each one as nameless as the next. Standing in the shadow of the Black Temple could do that to a person.

The fel orc's spiked gauntlet slapped the woman, and she fell to her knees.
"Tired? You're TIRED? You will have time to sleep when you're dead! Lord Illidan will not tolerate weakness! Now GET UP AND START KILLING!"
She rose to her feet and started channeling the crystal, her hands still bloodied from having touched her bruised face.

Insanity at the Wayfarer's Rest
I had a new feeling today...one that I have never felt before.
I stayed up all night, thinking (that's new for me, too.)
Eventually, I realized what it was...
Self-doubt.
You see, all my life, things have come easily to me. I have had trials, including losing my family...as most of my people have. Even so, I have always trusted my instincts, my judgement, my abilities, my own senses.
I was talking to Luminash. It was actually quite pleasant, for once. I was perched on a stool in front of the bar, arms around my knees, robes tucked underneath my feet. He sat on the divan a few feet away. He was actually smiling and his eyes no longer had that haunted look. I actually have grown a bit fond of him the past few days. Being divorced has done wonders for him.
That Day in Alterac Valley, Part I
"Sweetheart, it's almost time." I open my eyes, and he is smiling at me, his green eyes soft and luminous in the gloom of the cave. He grabs my hand and helps me to my feet. Beside me, I feel a warm, furry shape yawn and stretch. My cat emits a low growl, and I instinctively put my hand atop his dark-maned head. I ache all over, as well as feeling stiff as a board, and am cold...so very cold. I stretch a bit, and some of the half-healed cuts on my hands and face open a bit, stinging and oozing. "You, my dear, are a mess." He is still smiling as he channels a soft golden light, which settles on me briefly like a warm breeze. The stinging eases, and the wounds close. I return his infectious smile with one of my own. We have been here for weeks, but after today, we will return to his home in Orgrimmar for some much needed rest.

((Or a post explaining how a blood elf priest now serves The Dark Lady...))
"He did what was best for his people," the blood elf says, her hooded head down, her feet resting on the table in front of her.
"That is a dangerous position to hold these days," the Forsaken hisses, his bony arm resting on the same table, across from the elf. "Kael'thas is denounced by everyone as being a traitor to Kil'Jaeden." He grins. "You are not cheering on a loser, I hope?"
The blood elf chuckles lowly as a gloved hand taps her hood. The soft glow from the halo seems to intensify for a moment. "I committed regicide, Lycanus. I hardly think a man who allows himself to be taken advantage of deserves to be followed."
