Honoring Alliance Towns - Astranaar

This forthcoming Friday, March 5th at seven o'clock Goblin Servo Time, the Commonwealth guild will host its third event to honor the people, contributions and history of smaller Alliance towns. This time we'll be paying tribute to the lakeside settlement of Astranaar and the stalwart night elves who keep it safe from the neighboring Horde, deep in the scenic forest of Ashenvale!
Arcane Magic and Racial Differences
As evinced by the popularity of the martial arts thread, viewing things from differing racial mindsets is a common thought among RPers here. So, as we play in a magical universe where it practically suffuses the air, the question turns to how each class that uses magic (be it the Light, Arcane magic, Nature magic, or Warlock magic) learns it, and how does one's race affect their learning?
Being the instigator of this topic, I go with my personal favorite first - Arcane magic!
Arcane magic harnesses some wild, powerful forces - elemental magic, explosive arcane power, it's equal parts electricity, dynamite and nuclear fusion for the World of Warcraft. In short, there's two major elements in how to use Arcane Magic - Dynamism, to have the audacity to channel primordial forces of the universe with one's will, and Control, to keep those same primordial forces from ripping you apart.

The little pond was one of my favorite things about Sun Rock. From the first moment we had flown in and I’d seen the light dancing across it, and every morning when I awoke and made my way across the little bridge. It puzzled me, sometimes, that there was both a stepping-path and a bridge across it. Mostly, I ignored the stepping-path, turning my back to them to lean against the railing of the bridge and feel the morning around me.
The feel of a woman’s hand descending on my shoulder was a complete shock. I turned to see Braelyn – the woman Uzil had always described to me as the “insane elf bitch” – looking down at me down her patrician nose, lip slightly curled in distaste. There was something... dark about her. I couldn't put my finger on it. She made me uncomfortable, as though a shadow clung to her somehow.
