Who Am I/Where Am I (The Big Character Thread)
So recently we've had a couple people return to RP here, and of course everyone is always *looking* for RP as well. Now there's been much discussion, as always, about different approaches to finding RP, different types of RP people enjoy, so on and so forth. I have heard about threads such as this one and it's been on my mind for quite a while, and I'm thinking now is the time to start one. If you're looking to RP, open to RPing, or simply want everyone to know what sort of RP you're about and where you can be found, post a summary below. Basically, like this:
Commissioned Art: Lilthessa Shadowfire
Wonderful artwork done by Castien for me in a bit of a creative-trade. I love it! :)

These are the words of blogger Heather Hogan, taken from an article she wrote for a site pretty much totally irrelevant to what we do here, but they contained a message I dearly wanted to pass on to all the other writers here:
"Storytelling is older than science, and it will always be more powerful, because our lives are dominated by the stories we tell ourselves. Stories of quest and stories of love, stories of flights and stories of flops, stories of birth and stories of death, and above all, stories of hope. But we can only tell ourselves the stories we know — and from those once upon a times we reconstruct and deconstruct our own.
These days we've shaken down story quantification to a "Like" button, a measure of cartoon stars, 140-character reviews. Our most primal need cheapened to a series of approving or disapproving grunts. Cynicism is easy, criticism is easy, and we are a culture that brags about not giving a single f--k. But the real measure of a story isn't what the critics say; it isn't even what the ratings say. The real measure of a story is whether or not it beams its way inside us and fills our busy hearts with light."
Just wanted to share that with you all. =)
Who we are: An Alt-List for ShC
Some of us have a lot of alts.
They're not necessarily "secret" alts. But it is still a lot of characters to keep track of. Heck! I have a hard time with even some my better WoW friends. Lots of people have a "list" -somewhere- of their public alts; in signatures is common. Also, lists in various discussion threads about "Well one of my characters thinks this, this other character thinks that" etc. But it's hard to keep that kind of thing as a handy reference. I think we've had topics like this before, too, but they get buried and out-dated.
So I propose a new list, gathered all in one place for easy access. All voluntary, no one should make any comments lists for anyone but themselves. (ie: do not "out" anyone!)
List your alts!
Keeping your characters unique
With the age of this server and this website, in general people who have been around the longest know or at least know of each other and each others characters (at the very least OOCly). After so many years, it can get a bit boring or stale to just have one character to RP with--with such a massive world and so many different options, it's more fun to at least temporarily tell some other story. In fact, with how general things are, even two characters sharing the same faction, class, race, and gender can have completely unique stories--they could even be complete opposites, because the personality of the character--although certainly influenced by faction, class, race, and gender--has a lot of wiggle room.
PrintWarcraft Poster Contest & Fun
On the main WoW website the other day, I saw an announcement about a new contest they're having. You go to a website called Printwarcraft.com and use their site to create custom posters of your characters. When you submit these concepts to the contest, you have a chance of winning some gift certificates as prizes.

I actually had quite a bit of fun using this with Mirien and created several poster concepts, though I really wish there was a little more freedom in choosing the angles of the poses as well as the selection of poses themselves.
Still, I guess part of the fun is trying to do what you can with the stuff you got.
Here are some of my creations. I'd love to see some of yours too.
Character Theme Song Time
Just a little thing that I was thinking about today, as I was listening to my online radio station while working and coming up with stuff to write about my character. A song came up that I thought was a perfect theme song for her. I know a long time ago, back over a year ago I think, I brought up this same topic, but now it's been awhile and I'd like to see how some characters have changed their tunes, or see what some new characters have for theirs.
Please share them here, and include links to YouTube or some other online site that we can hear a sample of the music/song in question.
I'll start off with my own character:
Character: Mirien (high elf priestess)
Song: "Defying Gravity" by Kerry Ellis
Have fun!
Character "Creation" Fun (Fun is Not Guaranteed)
Hello folks :)
Ready, Aim.......Draw? [Anyone want to 'play'?]
Greetings, All!
What would your character's coin say?
I'm borrowing this idea from a posting that was made on the WoW_Ladies community on LiveJournal.
You all know the coins you can fish up from the fountain in Dalaran, right? Well if your character(s) had tossed in their own coins into that fountain, what would they say?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I'll start things off:
Mirien: I wish I could go back in time and save my brother's life... but... wait... this sounds awfully familiar... maybe I shouldn't wish for this?
Suuri: I wish I could spend more time with Sevilae and with my studies here in Dalaran. If only this city wasn't swarming with people other than mages.
The List
No more secret characters for me. This should be everyone that I have ever rolled up on the Shadow Council server.
Aeothe – Night Elf experiment & Gnome experiment.
Ahtail* - Teenage, voodoo Troll.
Alhta – N/A.
Ayressa - N/A.
Songs That Remind You of RP (Reprise)
One of my favourite discussion threads on the RealmPortal was Satyra's "Songs That Remind You of Arpee". I've decided I miss it enough to bring it here to Haven ^_^ (I did a search to see if anyone else had started one, but didn't find anything, so here's hoping.)
The basic idea was this: you're somewhere, listening to music, when a song comes on and makes you think "Hey, that reminds me of <insert character name here>". Then you post the song lyrics here.
To start it off again, I was listening to this one today, and it made me think of Lorith:
Registering Multiple Accounts!
Attention folks!
If you've been trying to register accounts for your alts here, we're currently working on the "one email per account/one account per email" issue. Right now, if you'd like to register an account for another character, you will *have* to use a different email address than the one you used for your first account. This change occured during our recent module-reload, and will be set right as soon as possible, so that you can have as many accounts per email as you'd like.
Sorry for the inconvienence!!
*donuts*
