A Slightly-wrinkled Note

Se’ala,

I made sure to enjoy a pineapple drink for you; I expect what I brought for you to be all gone by now; if so, that makes me happy, I’m glad you enjoyed it.  Thank you for writing; I only realized how much I missed you once I’d been gone.

I stayed in Outland a few days after you returned to your work protecting the soldiers who fight with you, and so only got your letter a few days ago.  I think I know how much you miss your father and the rest of your family.  My mother died recently, and though I know her to be at rest, it still leaves a hollow ache in my heart.  Is that how you feel?  If you wish to speak of it, I will listen.

THE UNDERCITY

Daraman caught the look on Lyndra's face as he raced around the small stone apartment they had shared for the past two years.  He knew this was going to get ugly.

"Why are you doing this?"  She asked, her voice dripping with scorn and contempt.

"Thunder Bluff is my home, my people need me," he replied, still packing for the trip.

"Your people are here, Dar.  How many times must we go over this?  You're dead.  Why do you still concern yourself with the living?"

"Because they are still my people, whether I am dead or not!" he shouted, throwing the last item into his pack, "These people are the future of Azeroth, not us.  You and I may well live forever, but it means nothing if we can't create life, if we can't...hope...for something better than today!"

"How did you find me?"

As she asks me that, Lady DeWynter sets her cup of tea on its saucer, then puts both aside on a small table beside her chair. She seems especially slender and drawn, and not as tall as I remember. Her face is set in frown lines, and the squint-lines by her eyes are not from laughter. Since she is not made up at all, the gray streaks in her black hair are in full force as well, and even the strands with color seem thin and brittle. Her elegantly conservative black velvet dress with pearl buttons is the thing of most substance about her.

"The housing market in Stormwind isn't what it once was, what with the zombie invasion," I explain. "And of course, all the soldiers and adventurers leaving for the north. So really, it was quite easy to find out who had recently purchased a suite. I knew the minimum standard you would put up with, mother."

Ettore

Soft hands touched her face.  There was wetness on her cheek that was wiped away.

Where was she?

She struggled to open her eyes; they felt swollen and gritty and offered only grainy vision.  Her head was propped up by soft pillows, and of this she was grateful because she doubted she had the strength to hold up her own head.  There was a flutter of movement in the room in response to the soft moan that escaped her throat.

"Giordana?" a fluid male voice spoke.  That voice sounded as familiar to her as her own.  She squinted.

"Thanks be to good fortune!  Giordana!  My baby sister!"

Ettore?

Her brother rushed to the bedside and clasped her face in his warm hands and kissed her brow and cheeks which were now streaming with tears.

In my Brother's Name

It came by mistake; it was meant for you, but you are no longer here to receive it. "Hey Salth, got a package for you from Stormwind." I was too overwhelmed to protest when the postman mistook me for you, I simply accepted the bundle and note attached.

They Cannot Hear

Over a year or two ago...

I awoke.

I can't remember what happened. It just happened. The little mansion I had lived in when I was serving the monster was... Exploding! As I watched it shatter, I heard a voice. This voice stayed stuck to my memories. This tough female voice spoke: "There it goes. Pity your brother couldn't see his evil die."

A second voice, a male elf's voice, then said, "Shuddup! At least YOU still have a brother. Lady Dragonhome had to do what she did! She made her choice!"

I looked down and I saw them. All of them were standing there below me, talking. I'm in a tree, I thought. I looked amongest the group and I saw her. "SISTER!" I screamed, "I'M UP IN THE TREE, BABY SIS!"

Mal

Yuu stretched his legs and regarded Cerwis warily. Two nights before, the woman had been attacked and her mind had been scarred. While she was much the same woman she was before, many of her memories, both recent and distant were lost or muddled. Unwilling to take any more chances, the rogue had elected to spirit Cerwis away to a place that few knew about and was relatively safe. Southshore was the closest friendly town to the secluded hiding spot, and that's where the pair now rested while waiting for Darlain and a fourth person whom Yuu did not know.

"You mentioned meeting this other person was meeting up with you and Darlain for something here?" the rogue asked somewhat suspiciously.

Tasks and Family

Everything was packed in preparation, and soon I would go where I was bid, this time not by my forsaken but someone who had once been forsaken.  I propped my feet up on my desk, looking idly at the tattoos that covered one foot as I lit my pipe of Maiden’s Anguish.  Slade had bid me to do him a favor and one way or another I was bound to keep it, as long as he kept his end.  We had struck a deal not long ago, I would go with Tsilas and retrieve something for Slade, and in turn Slade would keep Azaryel away from Mirien.  If the ex forsaken knew what was good for him, he’d keep his word.  After all if Azaryel touched Mirien, I’d happily destroy both the pale rogue and his mask that held the warlock.

A moment for a brother

Ixinane took a deep breath as she stepped off the creature under her; she ignored the flight master’s hand to help her down. The sea breeze sent strands of her dark blond hair across her eyes and she pushed them aside with one irritated stroke. She was nervous, she wasn’t exactly sure why, perhaps it was because she had to move him so many times before, perhaps she was worried that with her recent dealing she would have to move him again. The wind whipped the sand into a frenzy as she strode across the beach, it stung across her skin with its effort to be airborne. There was a storm brewing somewhere out past the beach, she watched the dark clouds far out on the horizon and listened as the wind carried a familiar laughter to her.

It was easier than I expected. I didn't have to go into the Undercity or see any of the horrors that guard the corridors and entrances to that place. The Orb was placed outside, in the Courtyard. I simply walked up to it and triggered it.

Fraternity

Thursday... and barely awoken before Olm, Jessa and I head into the Monastary again, this time aided by Jessa's friend Amogayvhi, a tauren shaman. We finish our work there, finding more good equipment to strengthen Jessa... something she needs, since the Alliance loves to take her down. They'd best be wary of her... the stronger she gets, the more they'll regret pestering her. She's got a strong spirit and more determination than anyone I've met, except maybe Olm.

Unless the World Falls Down

I woke up filled with determination. I was going to find Valgasha and speak to him. Alone. No fighting. No defenders. No pointless shouting and sword-waving. I was going to have it out with him. Find out what he really wanted from me. I contacted him through the Nether... and found that he was in the Undercity... but already had another conversation.
