OOC - Recognition

I think it'd be great for us as a community to lend some support for things like this.  Hell, imagine seeing even something simple drop in the Gilnean starting zone called like "Ancient Vinguld Signet Ring".

Normally I'd agree to petiton player content be included into WoW Lore some way, some how.

However, I think you'd have to ponder the effect of something like this on all other servers. Vinguld may be known here to whatever degree, but anyone not from Shadow Council would probably not even know anything about Vinguld. Even if an item showed up in game with ties to Vinguld, it would basically be meaningless outside to Shadow Council.

Forgive the fog Im having right now as Im at work, but... I think in order for something player created to be incorporated into WoW, it would have to be something monumental. Viral. Popular. Well known to all players of WoW.

The best example of this I can think of would be Leeroy Jenkins. Even though I personally hate Leeroy Jenkins and Pals for Life and left Laughing Skull (( The server where it actually happened )) I can not dismiss the extreme popularity of that stupid video. Something like that that is so well known by the entire WoW population would make sense to get a nod by Blizzard. Hence the Leeroy Achievement.

All that being said. I applaud your efforts in this manner. Deep down though... I just can imagine a slippery slope kind of thing if server specific stories were given nods ingame. Especially ones that really are... server specific.

(( I may be totally mistaken here, but didn't some of the really awesome, reliable, stand-out beta testers of BC and WotLK end up with nods to their characters in-game?

I'm doubtful that Blizzard provide what you're looking for based solely on players' story contributions, mostly for the same reasons that Shrilinda mentioned.  There are nods to well-known stuff like Flintlocke, but I'm not sure there are any precedents for server specific goings-on, save for tributes to Ezra Chatterton and a few other players who passed away.  It's certainly possible and worth a try, but I think if you want the best possible chance, see if yourself and some of the other participants can get into the Cataclysm beta.

Go the extra mile on feedback, support and good behavior, and pepper your forum posts with little references to the Vinguld saga.  Have folks mention taking a sip of Vinguld White to relax after wrestling with a particularly annoying glitch.  It might work. :) ))

Even Equinox doesn't have any recognition in offical game anywhere while he was linked from the official forum once long ago.. there is no Equinox in-game referance that I know of anywhere.

Although, how cool would "Equinox's Watermelon Imporium" be :)
