The Elementium Knights

"Fight'n a creature o' total chaos presents some problems that you ain't gonna get from any other enemy. It don't got no will to break, no morale to wane, no fancy tactics or strategy to guess for an easy win -- and it don't need none o' them things. It just destroys what all is in its path, an' the only chance you got is to hit th' damn thing harder than it hits you. If you's gonna be an Elementium Knight, you'd bes' be ready to deal with that kinna thing ev'ry day."
- Maggie Firebrand
The Elementium Knights are an Alliance fellowship working to combat the insurgence of destructive elemental entities on Azeroth and beyond. It is not a guild by itself, but a cross-guild association of adventurers, academicians and otherwise interested individuals. The Knights were formed by gnomish warrior Maggie Firebrand on May 28th, Year 33 in anticipation of the Twilight's Hammer Clan attempting a repeat performance of their scheme from the previous year's Midsummer Fire Festival -- summoning the Frostlord Ahune in hopes of pitting him against the Firelord Ragnaros, precipitating an elemental war and causing widespread destruction across the Eastern Kingdoms.
The Knights have been quite busy in the months since their inception, encountering further issues following their initial efforts to foil the Twilight cultists' plans. The forces of Ragnaros are far greater in number than anticipated, and the ongoing campaign to eliminate his troops has only dented the numbers after three months of effort. Moreover, a few curious events hint at cultist infiltration of major Alliance cities. Masquerading as normal citizens, many have gone entirely unnoticed in their efforts to acquire information and sow the seeds of chaos across Azeroth. On top of that, the elemental incursions in Kalimdor have continued unabated, with similar rifts and portals being reported in a host of new locations, even in the snows of Northrend.
Thus far, the primary weekly group activity of the Knights has been an expedition to Molten Core that takes place every Tuesday evening at 6:00pm server time, barring low turnout or server downtime. An overview of the campaign can be found in this thread on the Meddler website. While rather speedy with respect to people's schedules and game time limitations (a full clear takes an hour and a half on average), these runs are entirely in-character. We also have a system in place for helping people complete the two legendary weapons from the Core, described in the above thread. We're also starting up occasional runs to Blackwing Lair as well; a post about that can be found here.
However, old raids are not the only thing we'd like to do! Given the recent news about the Cataclysm expansion, bringing drastic consequences that tie in perfectly with the current in-character goals of the Knights, we'd like to expand the idea and try to encourage more involvement. The state of the world post-Cataclysm will allow for some wonderful story possibilities ... and leading up to it, we've got an opportunity to participate in roleplaying that's central to classic Azeroth before massive chunks of it change or disappear completely. We could plan a number of elemental-related events, along with random RP to allow various stories to intertwine with each other, as unforeseen disaster draws nigh ...
Feel free to send me a message if you're interested in participating, or just approach Maggie ICly if you happen to see her about. If you'd like to bring a character to our weekly sojourns to the Core (either for the RP or the lovely RP gear that drops there), send me a tell a bit before our posted start time -- group space is never an issue!

I'm gonna go ahead and bump
I'm gonna go ahead and bump this up high, as really this group is just a hoot and a half to play with. I'd recommend this group to anyone. The people are fun, the roleplay is nice and will lead up the the expansion well, and there's some really neat looking stuff in there.
Echoing Darlain's
Echoing Darlain's statements. I never really raided in Classic; I got into a very confusing MC run once, and we stopped before Majordomo Executus. I never saw BWL, or AQ40 (and only parts of AQ20), and didn't even hit Onyxia until BC and I was lvl 65. Seeing all this content now is a lot of fun; people take for granted that BC and LK are "better" than Classic, but the designs of these instances and the boss fights are still really neat and viable--and can be a challenge to a smaller group.
I've collected almost all of the priest Tier 2 set now, and it looks neat. I'm almost finished with the Sceptre of the Shifting Sands chain because of the Knights. We have a completed Sulfuras in the group, another in progress, and 2 Thunderfuries also in progress. Some nifty RP gear, most really unique or rare, have come out of these runs, as well as rarely done quest chains with neat storylines, and reputation gains for those of us crazy enough to grind those.
So if you're Alliance side (I'm not sure how cross factioning this group would work), and have some ideas for elemental based RP, or stuff leading up to the Cataclysm, think about Maggie's little group.
