Some Guidelines for White Hart

So I had to use my mod-hat last night for the first time since agreeing to help Lox/Iloam out with the cross-faction chatroom RP, and for a simple matter. It was handily resolved and mostly, I think, a misunderstanding and a new user being a bit overly-enthusiastic. But to avoid such issues in the future, I shall bring up some things here for clarity.

The White Hart "officially" starts at 7 p.m. server time. People are welcome to join the room and even begin RPing before that time, however, it is unlikely that either moderator be online before then. But, there is a scrollback ability in the jabber client set up I use, so I can often see some activity that occured before I entered--and others will let me and Iloam know what's happening, apparently.

Lirriel acts as a hostess, innkeeper, and pleasant face/personality (well, there are *rare* exceptions to this, but hey). I cannot, however, always be attentive in the scroll of RP to every tiny server request given the nature of the room and its differences to the WoW interface (people can't stand in front my avatar like they do in the game taverns when they want something). Therefore, goblin NPC servers can be assumed to be getting folks' beverages and meals for them as needed. I'll assume you've all been to a restaurant, you know how it works and can use it for description in your lines, since we're all creative people here. Just please don't abuse the staff verbally, as Lirr will start to scold, nor physically, unless you *want* me to play out the White Hart's magics. ;-)

Speaking of which, no, they haven't gone away, nor will they. That's topic's been done.

The trouble last night came when a player took it upon themselves to suddenly take over and play at being bartender for the Hart. Now, in WoW itself, there's not much we can do if someone walks into a tavern not staffed by NPCs and begins acting like a server, even if "everyone knows" that it's Saphrona and Shari's night to manage the Golden Leaf, for example. That's WoW. The White Hart is a moderated chatroom "owned" by Iloam/Lox with moderator assistance, given it *is* outside the main game and how it is set up as a cross-faction environment for anyone to enter, from Alliance to Horde to all in between. Hence, the magics ICly that are OOCly run by room staff to keep peace when needed when things heat up between characters.

If someone wants to be a server for White Hart, by all means, speak to me or Iloam. Iloam has final say on staffing choices, and we'd be glad of any IC or even OOC help! But walking into any chatroom and trying to take it over is poor form (as well as gets us IM-bombed).

Speaking of that now: If there is a problem in the chatroom, Iloam or I are the ones to message, not our characters' significant others, best friends, or other people who have no special little symbol next to their name in that room. There are no Haven mods currently with moderator powers in White Hart (something that may bear some consideration, actually). Those people may have alternate methods to contact us, but they won't be able to do much more than talk at the person causing disruption and tell us what happened when we do log in. PM us through Haven, IM or email us if you have that info; we'll be online to handle it soon enough, especially if it is a Monday.

Overall, the folks who come to the White Hart are AWESOME folks who RP well together despite character issues (or because of them!). Like I said, this is the first time in the months since modding that I've had to say or do anything resembling such. That this is the first time I've had to clarify things like this speaks well of the overall maturity and cooperation of our ShC RPers and gives me another reason to love our server and our Haven community.
