To all the good folks of Haven,

Just a note to let you all know, today at about 12PM EST I switched off my administration rights here at Haven and am now, with this post, formally retiring from moderating the website.

I was asked by Noctifer to come moderate back about two years ago, when RP-Haven was about to go live.  We wanted to create something to catch the community of RPers falling off the deletion of the Realmportal website, and we wanted to create something we hoped would be better.  Six moderators, from Horde and Alliance, an open ear to the community, a willingness to change and adapt as times called for changes and adaptations.  I've seen new tags, new forums, new discussions, new ideas, and so many new RPers come to the site, find RP, and become a part of what we've created here.  It has been a wonderful experience.

For my own sake, though, I've got to move on from the daily watching and tending of the website.  It's been a wonderful two years or so, but also a very big and difficult responsibility, and I'm tired.  I'm tired, and I have other things I want to focus on.  I am not quitting WoW, or quitting RP - you all will see Neesy/Ineesa/Ineese, Tavlo, Rasma and Artisania alive and well in the world.  You might even catch a glimpse of the spirit of Lorith Stonegarten.  I'll still be posting art and writing from time to time and participating in the odd discussion (especially the odd ones).  But I'll do so as just another member of the site.

A few things I want to remind folks of, for the sake of my dear fellow moderators - one last time:

When you're typing out your keywords, please put commas between them.

When you're posting from Word, copy into another word processor first or remember to delete your source html spam at the beginning of a post (though I think we have this straightened out).

If you or a friend registers an account and you don't recieve an activation email, please contact a moderator about it.  It can be easily fixed.

Last but not least, as I've said all along, please be nice to each other.  Haven was made for everyone.  What has disillusioned me the most over the past two years has been the number of people who have used this site as a personal soapbox for their own agendas.  Everyone's style of RP is valid; everyone should feel welcome to contribute here without fear of judgement.   As individuals, we are welcome to our own opinions, ideas, and of course freedom to RP with whom we choose - but this site was not meant to become a platform for elitism, for discouragement, for catagorization, for exclusion.  Watching those subtle waves of social jostling has been what has fatigued me most in regards to moderating this site.  At times I saw it become what we had hoped for.  At times I saw it turn into a whole other creature - and felt the effects in myself, in my friends, and in members of the RP community across the site and across the server.  It saddens me that something that was constructed as a useful tool for networking roleplay has been abused and misused and so often cast in such a different light than it was ever intended.

RP-haven is not my website.  It never was.  I just helped out here the best I could.  I thank you for all the cooperation, patience and understanding as the site has grown and expanded.  I look forward to all that will be created and shared here in the future.

Thanks for all the work you've put into this site.  You've truly been instrumental in making this a welcoming community for everyone.

Thank you for all the time

Thank you for all the time you've put in for this site, Neesy. =)

I didn't always agree with

I didn't always agree with you, Arti. In fact, I'd say the times I agreed with you were notable for their rareness. However, no matter how much I can disagree with you I can still respect you, because you consistently worked to the same guidelines you set (that I probably disagreed with :P). I can respect the hard work you put into Haven and what you gave of yourself.

I can appreciate that and you. Thank you for your work, your effort, and your giving of yourself. =)

I've been impressed by how

I've been impressed by how well things have gone here and I know you played as large a part in it as anyone.  Thank you for the hard work and enjoy yourself.

For something that was

For something that was entirely a voluntary task, I think you were a good moderator for this place.  You encouraged the RP, and kept some of the personal crap to an appropriate minimum.  Thanks for sticking it out, and glad to see this isn't a good-bye to the server post!  Keep on keeping on with the writing : )

It may not be your website

It may not be your website Lorith but you have been the face of it. For that, and all the responsibility you took onto yourself voluntarily, you have my thanks. And that gratitude goes to all the folks working behind the scenes that we hardly ever see. I have great empathy for you and the difficulty this decision must have been to finally make. Just know that, no matter what, your work has been appreciated.

Come enjoy the game (and this website) again for what it is: a game, not an obligation.

Besides, perhaps there's an old Tauren about that would love to greet the sun with you again.

May the Ancestors Guide Your Path.

 I've never spoken to you,

I've never spoken to you, and you've never spoken to me. But I've seen your posts on old topics. I've read some of your stories. And while I'm not exactly the expert... I'm pretty sure you'll be missed. :)

Goodbye, good luck, and thank you for helping to shape this amazing place for present and future Councillors.

shouldering the burden

((

Part of what has made it so easy for me to be a moderator on RP Haven has been the earnest effort you put forth, Ineesa. I am unable to count the times when I have noticed some problem, or someone has brought an issue to my attention, only to discover that you had already resolved it. The remaining moderators will have to put forth more than your allotted portion of effort to make up for your absence.

I hope that you are able to contribute as much to RP Haven as a user as you did as a moderator. If not, the rest of us will be poorer for it.

Al diel shala.
