Site Issues List
This topic is to help the Moderators keep track of Known Issues (bugs that need fixing), Feature Requests (thematic or additional functionality requested by users) and Resolved Issues (either Known Issues or Feature Requests that have been fixed). If you'd like to submit a Feature Request, please either post in this thread or make a new post in the Site Issues forum.
Known Issues
Known issues are listed by severity. Critical issues are those items which hamper functionality and affect all users and are to be fixed before the site goes live. Moderate issues affect functionality for some users. Minor issues are thematic issues.
- Audio Upload - 6/8/2007 - Severe - We'd like to get the audio module working so that ShadowCast can be easily uploaded and managed here. This is currently under development on the test site.
- Safari error - 3/11/2007 - Moderate - The WYSIWYG editor doesn't seem to work well with Safari browsers.
- Group authentication not working - 3/11/2007 - Moderate - This is a known issue in the module that creates groups and is being worked on by the module creator. Once the software is updated, I'll fix this.
- No authentication on forum headers - 3/12/2007 - Moderate - This is another known issue with the module that creates forums, though this one doesn't seem to be getting immediate attention by the developers. I'll be keeping my eye out for developments, but for now, moderators will have to make sure they check "Moderators" under "Access" for Moderator-only posts.
- Formatting buttons on response fields - 3/12/2007 - Moderate - the buttons on the response fields aren't working as expected. The work around for this is to change "input format" to "Filtered HTML" but I'll be working on a more thorough solution.
- HTML option for text entry - 4/2/2007 - Moderate - figure out why the button for HTML entry isn't working on the TinyMCE window.
- Site Info > User List formatting - 3/4/2007 - Minor - User List is a bit ugly and needs formatting.
- Page number links at the top instead of the bottom - 3/17/2007 - Minor - I'll research how to get the page number links on the "summary" pages to appear at the top, but its not a big priority right now.
- Paste from Word button - 4/2/2007 - Currently, the Paste from Word button allows any font and font size to be used. Users would prefer that it change the font to the site's default font. This one is being researched.
Feature Requests
- Multiple character names per account - 3/2/2007 - Users would like to be able to switch easily between alts, with each alt having a different profile. Currently, this isn't something the software can handle, though I'll continue keeping an eye out for possible resolutions.
- Quotations not promoted to the Quotation block automatically - 3/11/2007 - Users can now choose whether they want their quotations to be seen in the quotes block in the left-hand column, but I'd like to find a way to do this automatically.
- Music Upload - 3/23/2007 - Add functionality to allow users to upload their home-grown mp3s to the site. There are some concerns with space limitations on this. We can host a few mp3 files, but allowing users to upload their own might eat up space fast. For now, if you want to share your music, upload it to another site and link it in your blog or forum post.
- Themes - 3/24/2007 - Users are stuck with a "default" theme selected by the Moderators. We do intend on allowing various theme selections in the near future, starting with "Horde," "Default" and "Alliance" themes and perhaps eventually having racially-based themes as well. For now, however, we're focusing on selecting the default theme and moving away from the "out of the box" gray and white theme.
- Jabber - 5/16/2007 - Users would like a Jabber server locally so we don't have to rely on jabber.org. See post here.
- Date format choices - 7/7/2007 - Users would like to be able to choose European Date format and use military time.
Resolved Issues
- Spam prevention - 3/2/2007 - After discussion with other moderators, we've decided not to implement spam prevention rules at this time. As people join the site, they'll likely be entering whatever backlog of blogs they have in their possession and we feel this should be encouraged. If you see the front page is filled with posts from one user, just click the link to the second page.
- Inline Images - 3/11/2007 - The WYSIWYG editor broke inline images. Actually, it didn't... not sure why I panicked there.
- Blog Title/Blog Description not showing - 3/13/2007 - These entries don't show anywhere on the site. Am researching this one. The functionality may be removed.
- Private Messaging textfield only two lines high - 3/19/2007 - Fixed. The text field was increased from the default to 17 lines high.
- Other textfields too small to edit - 3/19/2007 - Fixed. If anyone notices more of these that are too small, PM Noctifer with the link.
- Links Page - 3/25/2007 - Added a Recommended Links block on the left hand column and a corresponding page.
- TinyMCE Editor Performance tweak - 3/25/2007 - Added a performance tweak to the TinyMCE editor, which should improve load times on pages with a text box.
- Persistent Logins - 3/25/2007 - The "Remember me" checkbox was restored and you can choose on your "My Accout" page to set a default. You must have cookies turned on for this to work.
- Group pages - 3/25/2007 - The topics in the FAQ on Groups were improved and new topics added to detail how to manage a group. Error messages on uploading pictures were researched and the Moderators got in touch with the designer of the Team Tables. He expects to have an update to the module available soon that will default to allowing Profile pictures to appear on the team table.
- Read Counts - 3/26/2007 - The system has been set up so that all users can view read counts. Previously, only Moderators could see read counts.
- Default Theme - 3/26/2007 - We have a new default theme! No more of the "blue and gray" default theme that comes with the software!
- Explicit tag - 6/28/2007 - You can now choose to list your post as Explicit, which will add a tag and a note will appear on the tracker page that notifies users with a graphic as to whether an entry is rated explicit or not.
- Error in automated emails - 1/11/2008 - Fixed some places where automated emails (particularly those issued by trying to join a group) were showing variables incorrectly.

Should we non-moderators see
Should we non-moderators see this post also? I'm sure it's part of the issue you mention above, but just pointing it out.
This post I definitely want
This post I definitely want users to be able to view, so they know what is being worked on, what is being discussed and what's planned for the future.
The authentication for individual threads is working now (we've already several moderator threads most users can't see), but it only works on a per-thread basis. In other words, right now, I can't hide the existence of the Moderators forum or default posts that are made there to be viewed only by Moderators.
Unfortunately, the forum module was something of an afterthought for the software we're using, and doesn't have the functionality one would expect from most forums. I am, however, keeping an eye on future developments that may resolve this problem.

Ok, wasn't sure as the little link at the top says "Home>>My Info>>my groups>>Moderators so that kind of made it look like we were included in the moderators group, which we are not.
