User Name Question?

It's looking like all the accounts with full names, instead of the character name, are being changed. Which, if the account can be verified against the game, why's it necessary?

This makes me wonder though, about the accounts purposely made that have no in game equivalents, or used to have an in game equivalent and don't anymore (I have at least 2 of those I was thinking of having merged or deleted anyway).

((I have noticed a lot of the First & Last name IDs getting changed lately. I think they're going back and switching them to the current name policy! I don't think it's anything against your character in particular, just streamlining and standardizing things.

Thanks so much for the comments, you two. I've been wondering because mine was quickly changed, and I had asked a previous member of this site if it was alright to list his first and last. She said it would be fine since she had friends who listed both ((As long as your IG name was part of your full name)) so I went off that. :]

I didn't think it was anything against me in particular, just wondered why mine was switched so suddenly when I thought it was within the regulations. Thanks, again!

This was possibly a misunderstanding by one of the mods on the naming policy, but I'm not really sure.  I'll look into it.  In the meantime I have changed your name back to "Avis Blithe".

The naming rules require that your name tie into a name in game, and not be an attempt at hijacking another person's character.  Generally I've interpreted this to me that two-part names are fine, as long as one of those parts is actually your in-game character name.

I'm not sure this is something we mods have ever formally discussed though, so it may need to be touched on at our end.  Name changes are one of those things we have to be careful about, both for techincal and character-related reasons.

I didn't wish to break any rules, but given the amount of people who had first and last names (of their original characters of course) I thought I was in the right. I really do appreciate your response! I'll be sure to let you know if I come across any problems, because I'll feel confident that it'll be met with a friendly face.

I changed it. The mods are having a discussion regarding this policy, so stay tuned. However, no one is being specifically singled out, other than by chance. I check names when I notice them in tracker or the new user list. As to non-game/role play only accounts, of which there are a few, those are likewise checked out out via e-mail and confirmed to belong to ShC folks (as they are noticed). They're in the list of "exceptions" talked about in the naming policy for storytelling purposes. The policy exists primarily to facilitate in game communication and note, your full name should be available to anyone reading your profile. Final determination will be made over the next day or so and the policy will be updated to reflect the change if there is one. Should "two names" become the norm, feel free to PM any moderator for a username change. Sorry for any confusion.

     All is well! I was just curious, being told one thing and then witnessing the change so suddenly (Almost within the minute of creation, haha) I was worried I did something wrong.
