I'm looking for a guild

Aeva's picture

Ok, I'm sure this isn't the right spot for this, but I couldn't find anything that really fits.

I get overwhelmed with information when reading guild pages. I also get disappointed when I see the ones that strike an interest haven't been updated for months. I'll list what I'm looking for and what I'm not looking for and perhaps someone can point me in the right directions.

Want:

  • Active Roleplay
  • Mature Players
  • Room to Fit In

Don't Want:

  • Guild that focuses on raiding
  • Guild that focuses on PvE to the detriment of RP
  • Light Roleplay Guild

I have a few raiding toons on a PvE (non-RP) server. I'm returning to Shadow Council after too much raiding and too much PvE. I played a rogue on this server on Day 1 and moved servers (unfortunately) at the request of my husband. The old rogue is gone, but I do wish to play the priest that I have slowly managed to inch up in level as that same character. It has a different name, but I'm sure hardly anyone remembers my old rogue anyway, so it does not matter much. I do plan on leveling the character to 80 as I don't like being limited in travel. Thanks.

That's it, fairly simple. I really just want an active roleplay guild.

Try the social events

 Hey there!

Why not head to the social events of the server?

Horde-side, I've found Fancy Cakes (6 Server every Sunday) and the Laughing Zhevra (every Monday, 6 server) extremely useful in meeting new people.

We do have a topic for it,

We do have a topic for it, but it is also, as you say, easy for those to get out of date. Still if you haven't checked the compendium here, it does have several active RP guilds.

  Well, are you H-Side or

Well, are you H-Side or A-side?

Being an active roleplayer H-Side, my own guild, The Kingdom of Quel'Thalas and Pox spring to mind. I apologize profoundly to any active H-side guild that I didn't mention, I assure you it's nothing personal, just a lapse of memory.

The Kingdom of Quel'Thalas has, as a theme, the government of Quel'Thalas, but currently, it seems like it is more of a general RP guild (which is fine by me, the more the merrier). We are mostly  Blood Elves, but we accept all races, and we have at least a few of every race. Roleplay is plentiful, and PvE (intra-guild) is very, very minimal. As far as I'm aware, we don't have guild-raids. It's just not that kind of guild. Just RP, really.

Pox is a guild I'm only familiar with through RP with its members. They're prolific roleplayers!

However, you shouldn't really choose based on these descriptors. Instead, I'd recommend you come to an event called "Fancy Cakes", hosted by Braedyn and Xiuhteena, in Silvermoon City. It's every Sunday, at 6 server-time. Most (blood-elf) roleplayers at least poke their heads in to say hi. It's often too busy for really in-depth RP, but it's definitely a fantastic start, and a good way to meet new people.

If you're not looking for Belf-RP, or can't make it on Sunday, a character named Ressekkie has recently revived an old event named the Laughing Zhevra. It's in Ratchet, on Monday, 6 Server. It's very non-Belf centric, with lots of Tauren and Troll RP. It's an entirely different atmosphere from Cakes, and to be frank: I'd recommend you visit both. Make a bunch of friends, chit-chat with some players, both IC and OOC, and see which gang strikes your fancy. Heck! Maybe you'll find that you play a scholar, and want to join the University of Kalimdor! So many small guilds that are every bit as good RP'ers as the larger guilds, that it'd feel like a shame not to at least look around for a bit :)

Good luck!

(( If you're seeking an

(( If you're seeking an Alliance side guild, I'd put in a shameless plug for Commonwealth, our merry band of average adventurers!  I confess that our website has more or less fallen into disuse, but not from lack of activity of the guild ... mostly the fact that we don't really need it for anything more than reference purposes.  We still meet every Sunday evening at 7pm server and plan big social events every month or two, usually parties and get-togethers to honor various Alliance towns.  Guild chat is entirely in-character, and none of our guild-sponsored events involve raiding or instancing, so nobody will be left out.

We've been active since April of last year, but we do have a fairly small membership at the moment (19 people), so we're probably not a good choice if you're looking for a really big guild with people online at all hours.  Not trying to scare you away, as we welcome all applicants ... just want to be honest about the current guild size.  We try to appeal to people with more relaxed gameplay schedules, and make sure nobody gets overwhelmed or lost in the shuffle.

If you have any questions about Commonwealth, feel free to contact me on Darling, Diana, Lisa, Mag, Maggie, Myrina, Penelope, Rabbly or Saphrona.

I'd also put in a strong word of support for The Silver Dragoons.  (Not to be confused with "Silver Dragoons", minus the "The", who are a PvE guild with an unfortunately similar name.)  They're an elite military organization focused on the protection of Prince Anduin Wrynn and the security of the kingdom of Stormwind.  While some of its members raid with other groups, no raids are organized by the guild itself, so you'd not see the officers spending time and energy planning events that are exclusive by nature.  They meet every Wednesday evening at 7pm server in the Petitioner's Chambers of Stormwind Keep, and you can contact Harrigan for more information.

To meet people from other Alliance-side roleplaying guilds, I highly recommend visiting the Golden Leaf Tavern in Stormwind's Park district.  It's the big building at the south end of the Park with the mailbox outside, and is currently open from 7pm to 9pm server time several nights per week.  I believe the nights of operation are Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.  You can contact Amorista for more information.

Hope this helps! ))

Thank you for all the help.

Thank you for all the help. I should have noted that I play Alliance on this server. My raiders are horde, so I like seeing things from the other side for casual play. I will most definitely start poking my nose into the events that were mentioned. I really appreciate all the quick comments!

(I'm wounded not to have recieved any plugs shameful or shameless. Ah well.

Order of the Nightsabre has been around forever, and we're lucky to have a lot of folks who RP with us. Basically, where we differ from a lot of guilds is in that our RP is deliberately war-oriented, and we PvP extensively. We do also raid rather a lot, but we and our affiliate guilds rp throughout both raids and world/BG PvP, and do neither without in character reason. We tend not to actively recruit, but we can hopefully either fit what you desire or guide you to someone who can also.

I can be generally found on this character, my Evil Alt Ythgar (for our evil sister guild), my Righteous Alt Mlakazar (Draenic sister guild) or any number of toons under 80. Good luck in finding what you seek!))

Astranaar

I recall fighting the horde in defense of Astranaar WAAAAAYYYYY back in the day with the Order of the Nightsabre. Glad to see some of the old RP guilds are still around.

Horde now too

I transferred a level 70 Blood Elf (used to be night elf) hunter to Shadow Council, so I'm Horde side too now. I'm very much looking forward to interacting on both sides.
