The Collected Works of Rosieta Redgrove for the Stormwind Library Archives

Foreword

In these dark and uncertain times, humans have seen many a force attempt to extinguish the light of their race. The Plague of Undeath nearly accomplished this, destroying the once beautiful land of Lordaeron in one swift breath. Though that event has not long since passed, the desire to return to the blighted area in order to salvage items of cultural importance has gained in favor. To many, including myself, the restoration of even the tiniest fragment of Lordaereon civilization is enough to light a candle of hope among the survivors. It was with this belief held firmly in our hearts that my expedition braved the Scourge taken lands. Within this book are some of the findings we unearthed in the city of Andorhal.

Our excavations found that in nearly every home where children once dwelled, there were several similar books. All in varying condition, some torn, burned or splattered in grime, it took us several months of research upon arriving at the safe haven of Tyr’s Hand to realize a common thread between many of the works. Thankfully we were able to correspond with a few traders and missionaries who had visited Andorhal before Arthas’ genocide there and thus are able to produce our findings.

Rosieta Redgrove was a young human woman, placed around nineteen to twenty one years of age, who wrote books of fables and limericks for the children of Andorhal. Salvaged copies of journalistic papers revealed that she was receiving quite an amount of fame for her works at the time, even to the point of soon having her stories shipped all over Alliance territory. Translations for the nonhuman races were also to be undertaken. Alas, Rosieta would not see this come to pass.

What happened to this talented young authoress is uncertain. Record remains found in the town hall revealed that a Rosieta Redgrove was married to an Everard Veach a few days before the estimated time of outbreak. One of the traveling merchants we spoke with told us that there was a rumor of a missing story writer at the time of his visit to the city. However, due to the outbreak of plague, the panic of the populace pushed any “minor” worries to the shadows. It can only be assumed that the writer died in the slaughter or was overrun by the Scourge.

Regardless of her fate, this book is designed to shed a ray of thanks and recognition upon these intriguing works. To the few children these tales have been told to, I can attest to a few more smiles brightening the streets.

The Grand Question

So why am I writing this? As soon as I have 25 free dollars I will be transferring a character I have made on another server (who is by far my favorite character I've ever made in World of Warcraft) to Shadow Council. Miss Redgrove is now Orestia, the Swamp Witch. She is undead and quite fun to interact with should you ever come across her. Just a warning to anyone who comes across the Mad Witch ;)
