Living Among Others

The nights in Mulgore are as clear as ever, the stars shinning brighter than most anywhere else on Azeroth. This night was no different with its bonfires and low chanting over drums. Every night seemed to have some type of ceremony as dinner rests within the body and juices are passed around during a song about the greatness of the Orcs who saved the Shu’Halo.

Rya Brightsinger, Ambassador from the Sin’Dorei to the Shu’Halo, was one of the few elves of the Horde ever allowed to such evenings. No matter if the Blood Elves are a part of the same cause as the Tauren, those of Mulgore, or any Tauren, knows that the thirst of magic that the Sin’dorei and the Quel’dorei feel is dangerous and should not be allowed to integrate into their society of the balance of nature. But Rya had proved months before that she could live among them by going through and surviving the Rites of the Earthmother.

Many still did not trust the young elf who sat among them to bring peace between the Sin’Dorei and the Shu’Halo, yet they kept quiet so to respect their High Chieftain, Cairne Bloodhoof. They did give her a new name though, anyone who goes through the Rites was given a name to be called by. The name chosen by the Elders of Thunder Bluff for Moriurya Brightsinger was Littlefeather, though that was what Rya had been known as when she spent her time among the Cenarion Circle. The Kaldorei and the Shu’Halo of Moonglade both agreed that the young one be called by that name.

The Ceremony was more or less a normal gathering of the elders telling their tales of the evil centaurs and their battles over the lands now known as The Barrens. Rya could not truly understand any of the deep voices that sang in their native tongue. She of course cursed herself in Thalassian for not learning Taur-ahe, the language of the Tauren, faster.

“Littlefeather, come sit beside me,” the deep rumbling voice of Hamuul Runetotem spoke not far away, “I will do my best to explain to you the beauty of the Earthmother’s words.” A few others overheard the Archdruid and his invite to the elf, to which many of them had a look of anger on their faces. The druid gave them no attention as Rya moved silently to sit beside him.

He gave a snort, his dark eyes twinkling, to which Rya knew was the way many of the Tauren laughed within.  She had no idea that he was giving approval of her feathered dress that was considered very formal among the Shu’Halo. As she sat in the proper way for such a formal dress, Runetotem quickly realized that Littlefeather was learning faster than most younglings of their own people.

“Archdruid Runetotem, you honor me with your call. I am glad that you do so here, for I am lost in what is happening.” Rya glanced toward him sheepishly before returning her gaze to the fire that danced in the center of the residents of Thunder Bluff, her golden eyes only glowing brighter as she watches the flames. Hamuul watched her a moment with his dark eyes before giving off a small smile.

“Young one, there is much too still learn. I do not sing with the elders tonight, so I will guide you in the stories they tell.” His eyes also moved to the fire as the chanting turned into words. “You also seem to have thought this was something a bit more formal.”

Rya blushed as she bites her bottom lip some, to which the Archdruid gave another low laugh. “It seems that my clothing choices are never fit for what is normal among Thunder Bluff. I will have to find something more suitable.” The singing of words, deep and harsh, became dominate over all other conversations, signaling that the telling of stories was beginning.

Lovely cultural piece.

To combat the woes of html code, I paste my text from word into the RP-Haven text box, add title, Preview, copy the good text in the prieview, go back a page (restart), and re-paste in RP-Haven text box, add finishing touches (title, keywords, etc.) then preview/submit.
