Time to feed the baby

Something cold and wet nudged her cheek, followed by warm breath and soft woof against her ear. Vanaja turned her head, lightly shoving at the furry head intruding on her space only to be met with a warm, wet tongue sliding the up length of her face.
 
“Oz! Stop it!” she grumbled as she turned over. She stiffened as the red wolf snagged one of her golden earrings with a fang. “Okay, okay. I’m awake. You can let go now.” She growled. The wolf woofed in her ear again and complied, stepping back to sit on his haunches, watching the orc, ready to pounce if she tried to fall back to sleep.

Raking a hand through ragged red, brown locks of hair, Vanaja glowered at her wolf companion muttering grumpily. “So, what was so important that you had to wake me from a perfectly good dream of Corpus and that thing he does with his tong…” The wolf heaved a sigh and rolled its eyes… Vana was sure he did… then cast his gaze toward the little venomhide ravasaur who sat nearby.

The little beast was whining; its face screwed up in what the hunter had quickly learned was its warm up to an all out screech of hunger. “Again?” she shook her head and rose slowly to her feet. The baby venomhide let loose with an ear splitting shriek and the wolf lowered himself to the ground, covering his ears with his paws, his eyes shifting from the orc to the lizard.

“Okay! Okay we’ll go hunt you up some food. What do you want to eat today little one?” she looked at the reptile expectantly. It gulped another shriek it was preparing to emit and looked at her. “Bug meat again. Why did I even bother to ask? You know… if that troll had told me what a pain in the ass you were gonna be I think I might have passed.”

 
The wolf rose to its feet and barked what sounded exactly like a scornful laugh. “You’re right Oz… I still would have done it. The idea of riding a sleek black ravasaur is just too tempting.”

 
Checking her gun and ammo the orc turned with a mock sigh of resignation, called out to her companions and growled, “Let’s do this.”
