As in Life

For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.

Obituary

For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.

The Coyote

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.

Olaff cursed, ruing the day then Techpriest Kiloth had brought the great grandfather clock from the old Monastery to Feuergrad. A gnomish construction, it was built with longevity and reliability in mind, and to its credit, it had never missed a beat. But for Olaff, the unnerving staccato was like listening to an hourglass.

Requiescat in Pace

Then did the idolaters call on the names of their gods, and did I call on the Light, who answers with fire.  And the fire did consume their sacrifices, the wood, the stones, and the earth, for it sought them and with divine relentlessness found their works and judged them.  Then did the first kings command, "Seize their false prophets and expose their wickedness!"  And they did seize them, and took them into the valley and cast them far from memory.

Cruel Necessity

For if a man does speak the Word of Glory, thus must he so act upon it--and yet the glory is not his; yea, woe unto him that does follows not the Word with the deed.

Cold Correspondence

Whosoever is delighted in solitude is either a wild beast or a god.

Long is the Road the Pilgrim travels.

For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding.

There were no flight masters in Northrend who knew the exact location of Feuergrad--indeed, few had even heard of it, and those who did spoke of it more as local superstition than anything else.  In the months since the great ships flew from it's hangars over Icecrown, the mountain stronghold of the Scarlet Death Watch had been eerily silent.

A still beach

I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Lordaeron, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the Light, keep not silence, and give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Lordaeron a praise in the earth.

Enduring Salvation

You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.

Ill tidings

For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me. Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.

Calm amidst conflict

Perhaps people think that the Light has come to cast peace upon the world. They do not know that the Light has come to cast conflicts upon the earth: fire, sword, war. For there will be five in a house: there will be three against two and two against three, father against son and son against father, and they will stand alone.

The Readiness is All

If I forget you, Lordaeron,
let my right hand forget its skill.
Let my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth if I don’t remember you;
if I don’t prefer Lordaeron above my chief joy.

The Earth died screaming

And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.  Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Light giveth, and the good Light hath taken away.

The Mark of the Lightbringer Part 4: Respect

But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the Day of Judgment.  For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Why they are called heathen

Therefore, regard the death and mangling of a thousand men as a small affair, a kind of morning dash — and it may be well that we become so hardened.

Justice

Everyone is a sinner. Everyone dies. It is pure justice.   Perfect, genuine, everlasting, permanent.   I am the harbinger of that justice.   I shall be the instrument of the Light’s will.   It is right that people fear death, and in doing so fear the Light.   None shall escape the reckoning.   Not even my people. Not even me.
