Crossroads
Luneaus stared idly at the tiny specs of bustling cityfolk far below her amidst the streets of Shattrath. Up here, in this small outcropping of mountain overlooking the city, she could leave her troubles for just a moment's time, and be in silence with the glowing Terokkar trees and Outland stars.
A soft breeze swayed her loose strands of hair out from the protection of her dark hood onto her face, but she ignored them, deep in her own thoughts. Her hippogryph companion shifted in his perch on a nearby tree and cooed contentedly.
She let loose a long sigh.
"So much has changed."
In all the centuries of her life, the events of the past year had been more tumultuous than decades before.
She kneeled down and dug her hands into the soft, luminescent lichen growing on the stone outcropping beneath her feet. A few small, glowing motes took flight and drifted slowly upward.
Chance Encounter
It was nearly dusk when she approached the main entryway to the Temple of Elune. Violet and green foliage gave the overcast and darkening sky a purple hue as a light drizzle dampened the city, the temple, and a very travel-weary priestess.
A feeling of homesickness washed over her, but only for a moment. Even this was not quite her home any longer, though many centuries of living within its walls lent it a familiarity unlike any other. Or maybe it was the memory of less trying times. She wasn't sure.
For the first time in months, Luneaus was able to return from the Outlands to her hometown of Darnassus. Not even Elune herself could keep her from a hot bath and a night of absolute solitude this night.
Chapter 1.2 - The Faithful Steward (cont'd)
“ It’s… so cold. And yet, nothingness.
Bare feet on stone… one after the other, slowly, softly. My sisters… they are around me… and singing. Sad, so sad… I mouth the words, but my voice is drowned out by the sound of their song, their chanting…
We walk in a line, slowly, silently, save for the chanting there is not a sound. No birds, no wildlife, just the chanting as we follow the stone pathway up the hill through the tall, thick, dark forest.
Forest… am I home? I can’t tell.
Forever passes by (or was it just a moment?), the trees clear to a crimson/lavender sky scattered with countless stars. They look down on us. Chanting, singing with my sisters. So much sadness…
Chapter 1- The Faithful Steward
((Hello! Finally taking a deep breath, and plunging into the wonderful world of Shadow Council RP. First timid, then intimidated, I'm finally sucking it up and working through this novel of a story about Luneaus stuck in my head for years. Thanks for reading!))
