OOC -Mixed Tape!
So in the spirit of Iloam's fun drink game, and many other similar fun games, I propose a Mixed-Tape post. For you young whippersnappers, a mixed-tape was something pre-iPod people would spend hours on, crafting an aural letter to people they cared for. Songs were chosen to follow songs based on the intros and endings, and the lyrics or the themes or melodies were all meaningful. People put ridiculous amounts of effort into these things, mixing as carefully as any professional, often with nothing more than a tape recorder. The whole point was to tell a story or express an emotion which was difficult to put into words.
So. Obviously we can't go into that kind of detail.
But interestingly, we can get close, as Youtube can be such a mixed bag that you almost do have to listen through every cut to see how it fits, whether it's good quality, replicating the way one had to agonize over a second here or there on an old tape.
Here's my concept:
Have your characters make mixed tapes for other characters they roleplay with. At least five songs linked, chosen for how well they fit together, telling some sort of story or expressing an emotion. I'll post mine below. I'm picking 80s cause frankly, your trance-electronica-metal stuff scares me. >.> And the 80s are fun. If you really must, I suppose you can dip into the 90s. Or the 70s.
Obviously, the idea of some of these characters crouched working with a bunch of cassettes is just funny in and of itself, so discard the anachronistic nature of, say, Ythgar hunting through vinyl records or winging tapes around to find the right song. Or savour it. Your call, really. This may take a while, since the order of songs is important, and finding them is half the fun. Ask friends. Ask family. Play on Youtube. =) This is a sort of poetry, so enjoy it.

I still have the first mix tape I ever got, given to me by my first love, back in freshman High School.
You've made a good one Ak. Can't wait to see what else other people come up with! I'll try my own hand at it, but not sure who I'd even make one for ><
Thanks! It took me over an
Thanks! It took me over an hour with much consultation with my husband, who's been doing mixed tapes since the 80s himself. It sort of came to me this morning that while we've done character soundtracks and songs, we've never really tried to do mixed tapes for one character going to another to express whatever's going on in the current RP stories.
I really can't wait to see how people craft these personalized and often intimate messages to one another!

I really have nothing, because I can't browse youtube freely thanks to dial-up, but Aktarin needs to hear the scariest weird electronica mix I've ever heard, just because its on topic and I've never had any other reason to share this crazy thing. I can't give you the address, but look up DOTA-Roshan killed by axe lvl1 and listen to that thing.

Plenty of Paper - Eisley (no youtube)
Well, here's my attempts. I
Well, here's my attempts. I think I tended for a few more sappy ones, and I dunno how well some of them flow together from one to the next, but I kept the character storylines and personalities and interactions in mind anyway. Also, a few more than 5 on some of these...
So, Lirriel to Drauglos currently is something like this:
Evanescence - You (actually popped up during one of our sappier rps once)
Michael Bolton - Go the Distance
Bonnie Tyler - Holding Out For A Hero (I tried to make this list without this one, since I've got Bolton, but couldn't; best vid version ever anyway)
Paula Cole - I Don't Wanna Wait (Here's where it really starts getting into Lirr's own current feeling shes too chicken to voice too much)
The Eagles - Desperado
Kim Carnes - I'll Be Here Where the Heart Is
Richard Marx - Right Here Waiting
Garth Brooks - When You Come Back to Me Again
Now Lirriel to Cerwis, the perception she seems to hold to, and some encouragement from her psuedo sister:
Kathy Mattea - Standing Knee Deep in a River Dying of Thirst
Christina Aguilera - Reflection (Both of these seem to be more how Cerwis comes across about herself)
Prince of Egypt - Through Heaven's Eyes
Jade from Sweetbox - 1000 Words
Rascal Flatts - Stand
Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica S2) - A Promise to Return
Leann Womack - I Hope You Dance
Frank Sinatra - You'll Never Walk Alone
And since I'm too lazy to change logins, Daevra to her older, now addled, sister Raksasha. From before the brain damage, to the screwiness but strange perception Sasha has, to Daevra's continuing feelings and support. Or something like that.
Bette Midler - Wind Beneath My Wings
Evanescence - Imaginary
Andrew Lloyd Weber (Cats) - Memory
Gundam Wing - Rhythm Emotion
Nine Days - Story of a Girl
Suikoden 3 - Exceeding Love

Honey, I'm beginning to get the impression you may have some sort of doubts about our relationship.
Playing god is an ironic phrase, for God doesn't take action, he remains detatched from the world's events. Humans have free will, so to choose to end another's life, you are not playing god, you're playing human.
